Are professional cameras hard to use?

Julee Lanham: Where I live you can purchase professional cameras for $1000

Johnnie Pummill: Cameras are not professional - photographers are. I assume you mean a DSLR.Like everything once you know how, it is easy. So, yes - take a photography course.BTW WTF is a "hipster"!

Minh Lefrancois: professional cameras start at around $5000you must be talking about DSLR cameras in general, which many, such as yourself, do confuse them with.not all DSLR cameras are professional cameras, but all professional cameras are DSLR cameras.you don't need to take a photography course per se, but you may learn a lot faster when someone is teaching you the basics....Show more

Sammy Tabatt: That's true, professional level cameras are very expensive. If you're talking dslr cameras... well yes and no. If you know nothing about photography and equipment then yes. If you know these cameras then no... so it's up to you to learn how to use a dslr.

Bennie Lantgen: You don't! know what professional cameras are. Professional cameras cost between $ 4,000 and $ 43,000. I doubt hipsters use those.

Sonya Volcko: What kind of camera are you talking about? Professionals tend to use SLR/DSLR/Medium format type cameras, while "hipsters" would more often be seen with rangefinder clones, semi-compacts, and horror of horrors "lomo" type cameras. If you want to take anything more than snapshots then I'd suggest you invest at least initially in a good book on photography, though a one day introductory course would be even better. When it comes to equipment have a look at the Leica M9, Canon's GX1, the Olympus "Pen" range, or Sony's NEX range (in that order)....Show more
