Unsure about taking a special education position?

Tomeka Hameen: Any experience which you can add to your resume and applications will be to your benefit. You have been trained in special education, so you are prepared for the challenges. It's entirely possible that you will grow to love it, and you may spend the rest of your life in special ed classes. Nobody can predict how the future will turn out. In the meantime, it is probably wiser to accept the position so that you can quit worrying about finding a job and concentrate on doing well in the one you have obtained. If you enter with an open mind, look for the good parts of doing "special education," and focus on the positive aspects of that part of the job, you may find that you love it too much ever to give it up, even if a different opportunity eventually comes along....Show more
