are marshmellows vegan?

Olin Hallin: Well I've regarded into this and we don't seem to be herbivores however we don't seem to be quite omnivorous both. We're toward insectivores or opportunistic omnivores then whatever else digestion shrewd. It's actual; our digestive methods don't seem to be geared toward digesting enormous amounts of meat (then can do it, it is simply traumatic on them) specially whilst it is cooked however a vegan vitamin supplemented with the occasional insect or uncooked meat (adding uncooked organs) is the nearest to how we have now developed to devour....Show more

Brittanie Zakutney: wow ok then um well it kinda depends on ur culture but if ur culture does that i think that ur not vegetarian based on the definition of vegetarian (u know not eating meat) yea i think a person who did eat a plcenta is a canibal ...

Irma Poiter: no there normally made with gelatin

Len Bormes: It's not animal flesh and isn't a slaughter byproduct, so it is vegetarian. It's s! till disgusting.

Carlee Tangaro: Hey, in all honesty I don't really care what we're "meant" to be. I have no interest in debates on incisors, digestive tracts, claws etc. The fact is we can currently be healthy on a vegan diet. That is all that matters now.No matter what people did in the past, these days it is very possible to be perfectly healthy without animal products, and that is why I do it. Maybe years ago when things were different it would have been hard to be a vegan, but now that it is easy, why should the past be an issue? There are so many lovely vegan foods available now, and we no longer need to rely on meat or dairy for nutrients. I'm not going to do something that feels wrong just for the sake of tradition. We may well be designed to eat meat. I don't care. These days we don't have to. We can be healthy on a vegan diet it is better for the planet, kinder to the animals and is a personal choice. Maybe we are "meant" to eat meat, and maybe we're not. So ! what? Now we have the freedom to chose and I chose not to.I kn! ow people often get engaged in debates on what our ancestors ate, and whether they did or didn't eat meat, but I don't really see why it matters. Our ancestors didn't use toilet paper. Does that mean we're not "meant" to use it?x...Show more

Nell Dipiero: if the goal in being vegetarian is to mimic an herbivorous diet, then sure. Various herbivorous animals eat their own.but if the goal in being vegetarian is to swear off any animal flesh, including a placenta (that was not a product of exploitation) then, no it's wrong. It depends on your own view.

Andra Oger: marshmellows are death.

Dana Russian: It depends on what you're using it for. If it's in an icing recipe, for example, you can substitute Ener-G egg replacer. http://www.healthyheartmarket.com/browseproducts/E... Vegans swear by it, lol.If you're looking for a substitute for an egg WHITE in a recipe (again, this is from an icing recipe), you can use this: Dissolve 1/4 oz. unflavored gelatin [depends! upon strength of brand] in 1 1/4 cups hot water. Let sit until cold BUT not set. Four teaspoons of this mixture is approximately equal to 1 egg white. It should be used in exactly the same way as egg white in a royal icing recipe.I don't know much about meringue powder, but I know that preparing this stuff will be successful if you're making royal icing or something like that. As far as meringue such as for a lemon meringue pie, I don't know of any substitutes, but I found an article by guy who tried made it with less egg whites, and he suggests using powdered Egg Replacer (a.k.a., Ener-G) and whipping it up for that kind of meringue. Here's the site: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0820/is_n22...I hope that helped! :)...Show more

Whitley Leopold: No, individualls' right to choose what they eat does not bother me at all. I'm thrilled to live where I have that freedom of choice.Just because humans can eat meat does not mean we should. We have the ability to ! reason, to show compassion and we have the ability to properly nourish ! ourselves with plant and non-animal foods, without needless killing....Show more

Sol Allphin: If there was any analytical or empirical evidence whatsoever of conscious intent behind our existence, IE, out being "meant to be" anything, I couldn't dispute it.But as it is, you're just making up fairy stories, aren't you?

Alonso Crehan: We're supposed to be omnivorous apex predators. Herbivores are what we're supposed to eat - not what we're supposed to be. Who are we to tell Mother Nature to go **** herself? :S

Maria Devenney: There is no substitute. You'll have to make something different.

Ofelia Kieck: I can't think of any but what are you making? can it be left out(cake icing.. make a different type)

Jestine Osumi: No it doesn't bother me in that we have the freedom of choice about what we wish to eat besides omnivores eat both meat and non meats.Mother nature provides what we wish to take and doesn't tell us what to eat.We have wiped out some ! species and brought other animals to the point of extinction with our quest to eat them.

Wilbert Shellgren: seeing it hasn't killed anything and by the way its going to be thrown out by the doctor anyway, so why not put use to it? anyways whats your opinion on this matter?

Caroyln Ebach: It would make your a cannibal, not a vegetarian, vegetarians don't eat meat.

Jorge Gerrero: egg whites are the only other option. So I don't think this recipe is for you unfortunatly.

Shad Bushweller: Technically, no. Vegetarians do not eat flesh, regardless of it's source.

Sheron Perrez: their are vegan marshmallows on the market but I'm sorry to say they don't taste quite as good as the real thing. at least not the ones you can get in america. here is a link to a vegan store in australia that imports vegan marshmallows from new zealandwww.crueltyfreeshop.com.au.

Robin Marchione: I am Jain by religion, I do not use gelatin or any form of egg.

L! ue Podewils: I wouldn't call them a vegetarian,i'd call them a ******* ! weirdo,i don't care what the health benefits are,that's just ****** up

Carmina Stickney: Is it natural to use a toilet? Is it factory farming natural? Is soda natural? Is It natural for humans to drink dairy? Is using an oven natural? Is using a computer natural? No? Many things are unnatural in today's society. It's almost impossible to have a "natural" diet, so your diet isn't natural either.

Danica Timperman: well there made out of milk....

Joeann Hoyt: marshmellows are usually made with gelatinI would try the local health food store or co-opcheck out the yellowpages.com.auyou might find something theregood luck...Show more

Mayola Sylva: No it doesn't bother me, but I can happily live as a herbivore so why shouldn't I?You can state that humans should eat meat as much as you like - it doesn't change the fact that they cause cancer and nowadays they contain other substances such as arsenic.

Maryland Gareau: I've never seen one eating meat!

!

Majorie Chester: They are usually made with animal based gelatin.

Cierra Gadbaw: I think a better question is "what would you call a person who eats a placenta" - if when you say "Doctor" you imply human placenta - then technically the person would be a cannibal....

Maynard Phoubandith: It doesn't bother me that humans are omnivores. It doesn't bother me that some humans (choose) to eat plant based diet. It DOES bother me when people say humans are herbivores and when they try to push their beliefs. mermaid, I thought we went over this. There are MANY types of animals. Just because I can't outrun a deer doesn't mean I shouldn't eat meat. There are MANY animals I can catch with my bare-hands and eat raw. Your argument makes you sound ignorant. If that's what you were trying to do then great for you. You have succeeded.Ulina, Great answer! But I should point out that there are people that don't even have a choice as to what they will eat, or have a choice if ! they will even eat at all. I can choose. I have money and could buy all! the vegan food I want. I just don't want to. I just wish people would not condemn me for this choice....Show more

Donny Bankson: We're supposed to be omnivorous, yes, but we're not supposed to consume as much meat as people are eating today. Especially when the meat we're fed is pumped with chemicals and extra hormones. People die from it.And I don't really care that much if I'm supposed to be an omnivore anyway, because meat has always made me sick. Plus, I'd rather not eat meat than shell out all of my money to an industry that treats its "products" with cruelty and disrespect.I guess to answer your question: No, it doesn't bother me. I'm able to make a choice, so it doesn't affect me....Show more

Trena Berum: marshmallows generally are not vegan as most contain gelatin. sorry, don't know anything about aussie stores...good luck, though!

Mayola Sylva: I assume you're talking about a human placenta?Well, mainly I would consider them either very imbalanc! ed, or just plain odd. But, they'd be a cannibal, and also *not* a vegetarian. Vegetarians don't eat animal flesh, and even though most of us like to think otherwise, humans *are* animals.

Cherry Stampka: Meringue is just one of those things that relies exclusively on the unique properties of egg whites. There is really no non-egg substitution.

Stormy Beliard: Meant? Supposed? By whom? You don't actually believe Mother Nature is an actual lady sitting somewhere being upset with me for not eating meat, do you? Get a grip, man.

Vida Miss: Apparently a lot of people responding don't even know what placenta is. And while that grosses me out too, because placenta IS NOT flesh, it wouldn't make you a cannibal, and because it isn't a by-product of any kind of slaughter or death (complete opposite actually, it's a by-product of life) then it would still be vegetarian also. I don't think it would be vegan tho. Plus many animals and people in other parts of the worl! d eat placenta after giving birth, it has many nutrients in it and supp! osedly helps curb post-partum depression....Show more

Jackelyn Archut: In the US, Marshmallows typically contain gelatin. All major brands and most generic brands at your local supermarket contain Gelatin. This would make them not even vegetarian, much less vegan.Try doing a google search for Vegan Marshmallows (watch the spelling - it's an "a", not an "e".) and see what you come up with. : )...Show more

Raymundo Kyser: Sorry but no...marhsmallows are not vegan OR vegitarian because marshmallows contain a gelatin substance that comes from bone marrow found inside pig's feet.

Basil Blasingame: Sorry, but no. They have gelatin in them. You can probably get some gelatin-free ones at your local health food store though.

Christy Tirabassi: Not bad for a troll, people are actually taking you seriously. I don't why, considering how transparent this question is.
