Opinions on these landscape images ?

Carter Dewater: I think you should shoot more landscapes! The first waterfall has some really nice light on the brightest green foliage, and I like the contrast between the light and shadow. I think there is too much shadow, I would like to see more detail on both the foreground and on the other side of the falls. The last waterfall is interesting, the water appears to be coming from nowhere on its way to the bottom! I like the additional detail there. They both look soft, a tripod would have helped. My favorite is the minimalistic blue and black field and sky. I think the sparse hill and the darkness suit each other well, and I love the color. I would clone away the two geometric man-made items on the horizon line. The one of brother is great for your album, I don't care for the vignette, but that is a personal problem :-) The bridge is nice, a bit dark on the left side and very busy all over, but nice color and the composition is OK. In fact, I probably would crop! away the left side and make it a square presentation. That is an image that could work many ways, including the panoramic-ish crop you have applied.I think you have a way of applying your touch on anything you shoot. Nice work!...Show more

Sammie Bocanegra: i really like the first one and the last one of the waterfalls, they are really pretty, i like the other ones to they were pretty cool.

Jacques Teri: 1st one i dont get, lots of negitive space, the image is soft (no tripod?),2nd the black point is a bit purple? set the purple as your black point maybe, its interesting and certainly better than the average snap....3rd bro in water, different, the composition is a bit central, intersting though4th bridge, not moving me, the light is really ordinary, theres no wow about it for me5th soft again? the water is inbetween sharp and milk, sort of no mans land for waterfall imagesI think if your not a tripod is needed? or a small bean bag thing as a camera rest, for! serious landscape work a pod is a must,of course i was expect! ing alot, so a bit below expectations, however exciting, you have strived to give a difference to the images and imprint your style, i like that, compositions a bit, tripod, and quality of light are all factors to consider,on the whole good effort and knowing you you will take all the advice you get from people and come back and blow our minds one day soon...Show more

Marcelina Schossow: Thank you everyone for your answers , i reallly apperciate them :)

Teodoro Lamond: Ah, the limitations of digital in landscape photography. Your images tend to impress me - you definitely have your own look. This is good. So, Image #1 - Waterfall - Waterfall is great, but the black holes in the landscape are not. HDR is the way to go here. You must use a tripod and shoot fast. Auto bracket is your friend. Image #2 - Again, too much negative space - in this case as above, they end up being visual "bald spots". I want to see some detail in the shadows. Image #3 - Your bro at th! e beach - best in the series, needs a slight lightening, otherwise a great shot. Image #4 - Bridge - would like to see detail in the shadows at the bank edge, try either HDR or just stack two images of differing exposures and erase the black on one exposure and bring out some detail in the shadows. They turn into little black holes. This is a digital failing - on film you could get this. The shot is a bit uninspiring, but if you got rid of the ppl, you could have a perfectly saleable ma and pa kettle calendar shot. Don't sneer, I've made plenty of $ on the ma and pa kettle shots.Image #5 - Waterfall, again the black holes kill an otherwise wonderful shot. The water appears to be coming out of space or somewhere. You need more detail in the shadow areas. Digital is a massive pain in the b*** for landscape. You need to shoot in the first and last light of the day only (midday sucks). You must use a tripod, and I find a cable release to be a good friend too. Try making mult! iple exposures, stacking them and erasing down or going whole hog on th! e HDR. I personally don't like HDR too much - it puts a funny glow on the shot, but the erasing method is extremely time consuming and you must watch every detail. Even when shooting film and scanning, this can be really difficult. A broad tonal range is difficult for digital to deal with - I've been doing the erase method for a long time now (since PS 7) and thank goodness the app will now stack the image for you. You need to be working in at least CS3, if not CS4. Keep shooting dear, you are very talented and I appreciate that you actually listen to us....Show more

Wally Gower: i like the: 1st one4rd one and last onethere are cool

Gus Leiby: I agree with the second answer. For me, the second one and the last one are just beautiful.

Branden Round: I'll just go in order... =)The first one (waterfall) is nice but just a little too dark, in my opinion. I think there's too much of a contrast between the waterfall and the dark areas in the right side and lower! left corner. Like, I can see what is there, but I really have to look for it - I just think you should make it a little easier to see the areas surrounding the waterfall. I like the bit of plant that's bright right at the waterfall. Composition's good.Blue hills - Ooh, moody. Love it. Impressive that you took it from the car (and sorry about you getting carsick.. don't know what to tell you about that)... Overall, I like it a lot... I don't think it's really special or anything, but it's nice to look at. I adore the blue.Your brother in the water - not sure if this qualifies as landscape..? But anyways, I really like this image. Black & white was a great choice for this photo. My favorite of the first three. The bridge - Ehh, I'm kind of iffy on this one. It's nice, sure, but you can do better. =) I like the lighting (and I think lighting is one of your strongest points, whether you're setting it up yourself or finding the perfect time to photograph in natural or available! light). Wherever that bridge is looks like a beautiful place. So far, ! this one is my least favorite.Last one - the second waterfall - I like this one about as much as I like the other waterfall photo, but for different reasons. I like that more of this photo is lit up, so you can see the foliage. However, I don't like the.. hmm... positioning? (I'm not sure what word to use) of the waterfall itself. I just don't like the angle you view the waterfall from in this photo. It's an interesting perspective, looking down on the waterfall like that, but I don't like that perspective with *this* waterfall. It just looks awkward to me. I think this perspective would work better on a waterfall that flows down over a cliff rather than one that flows out of rocks (if this waterfall is flowing out of rocks... I can't really tell, that's just what it looks like to me).By the way, in your comment on the last one, where you're showing the other waterfall photos - I love the 2nd one down....Show more

Arnoldo Budzynski: Theyre all beautiful.
