Gaylord Barragan: Herbs are great for pots on balconies. I have basil, lavender, cilantro, sage, peppermint, rosemary, and thyme growing on mine. Clay pots are best. Most of them don't need much maintenance after they get started. Make sure to read the requirements if you start them from seeds because some shouldn't get too much sun when they're starting out.
